We are a commercial law firm. We provide top quality legal advice and pragmatic solutions to our local, national and internation

We have successfully identified the market in which we are best placed to operate.   By knowing who we want to work for and having the right lawyers we have been able to focus and develop our strengths to give those clients the very best service.   To ensure our lawyers remain at the forefront of the law we run an active training programme which includes the development of legal skills, business acumen and client relationship skills.

Here at Greenwoods, trainees are regarded as the future of the business, and we invest significant time in recruitment and training of our trainee solicitors.

40% of our current directors trained and qualified with the firm, and our retention rate of trainees on qualification is high - on average at least 3 out of 4 will remain with the firm.

Trainees will normally have four seats, and spend six months in each.  You may be allocated to one or more of the firm’s departments, which include Corporate and Commercial, Business Defence, Employment and Employee Benefits, Commercial Property, Intellectual Property, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Property Litigation, Construction and Engineering, and Private Client (Wills, Trusts & Probate and Residential Property).

You will be supervised by our training principal and will also have a supervisor within each seat, receiving training in accordance with the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Trainees are encouraged to participate in meetings, attend court and tribunal hearings, attend internal training sessions and participate in seminars and other marketing activity.

A formal appraisal is undertaken twice during each seat, to ensure that you are receiving the appropriate breadth and depth of training required.

The types of people we are looking for:

Would you like to join a law firm where everyone is invited and encouraged to engage in what we are trying to achieve? Here are some reasons you might like to join us: Our people know what underpins the firm’s vision and strategy and how successfully we are progressing towards it. Your contribution is valued, your opinion counts, you are rewarded for making a strong contribution and where success is celebrated. We recognise that we are working within a competitive industry, our people are encouraged to think creatively and market their services in innovative ways. We use technology to help us do our job better, not as a replacement for human contact! Excellent Client Service is a must for us and we strive to improve our lawyer’s people and management skills, as well as technical legal skills. Our client care policy forms the foundation of our client service. We like to be pro-active, to look for solutions, rather than just problems, and to adopt a can-do attitude.
